2025: Deep Roots. Growing Strong.
As we close out 2025, we are reflecting on a year shaped by deepening our roots and expanding our branches. Thanks to the strength of our community, e4usa continued to grow in meaningful and impactful ways.
This year, e4usa:
- Began 2025 with our first in-person conference and winter professional development at the University of Maryland, bringing teachers, liaisons, partners, and staff together to strengthen our national community
- Received our own NSF grant funding, strengthening the foundation of our work
- Expanded our high school partnerships in key regions, including Tennessee and Miami
- Was featured in the ASEE Mindset Report, highlighting the national importance of our model
- Expanded credit and placement partnerships, creating more pathways for students to earn college credit
- Strengthened partnerships with PTC Onshape and MathWorks, including a second grant from MathWorks to expand our e4usa+Programming course
- Celebrated national visibility through an NSF Science Matters article
- Received a 100,000 dollar grant from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation to help make engineering education more engaging and available for high school students with financial need across the country. This grant will allow us to further develop and expand our high school engineering curriculum, support a national network of teachers and schools, and strengthen partnerships with universities and industry leaders.
This year, we also experienced a profound loss. We lost Dr. Leigh Abts, a founding visionary of e4usa and a lifelong champion for opening doors to engineering education for all students. To honor his legacy, we have established the Leigh Abts Legacy in Engineering Education Scholarship, which will support future educators who share his passion and commitment.
These accomplishments and moments of reflection remind us of the strength of our roots, built over 23 years of engineering education research, and the branches that continue to grow through our teachers, liaisons, students, and partners.
As we approach the final days of our Friends and Family Campaign, we invite you to help us finish strong. Your year-end gift helps us reach more schools, train more teachers, and inspire more students in the year ahead.

Thank you for being part of our growth in 2025 and for helping shape what comes next.

e4usa at Ironwood High School: Expanding Engineering Opportunities for Every Student
We’re excited to highlight the inspiring work of Dr. Chuck Balogh and Ironwood High School in Glendale, Arizona, where e4usa is helping expand engineering opportunities for every student. By embracing human-centered design and welcoming students with no prior engineering experience, Dr. Balogh and his colleagues are transforming the classroom into a space where all learners can think like engineers from day one. This story reflects the heart of our mission to make engineering education truly for us all and shows how one committed teacher can open doors for an entire school community.
