Dear e4usa Teachers, Administrators, Liaisons, and Supporters,
Welcome back! We are delighted to begin the 2026–2027 academic year with you and hope that the summer offered opportunities for rest, renewal, and reflection.
One of the great pleasures of the summer was seeing our community come together through professional learning. It was wonderful to welcome returning teachers as they continued to deepen their practice, exchange ideas, and prepare for the year ahead. It was equally inspiring to see our newest educators engage enthusiastically in New Teacher Professional Development. Their energy, curiosity, and commitment were palpable; a reminder of the extraordinary possibilities that emerge when dedicated educators gather around a shared purpose.
We were also pleased to provide substantial scholarship support to both new and returning teachers. Expanding access to e4usa requires more than offering an innovative curriculum; it also means working intentionally to reduce the financial barriers that can make participation difficult. We remain committed to supporting schools and educators for whom additional resources are essential to sustaining meaningful engagement in the program.
That commitment is especially important as the e4usa community continues to grow. This year, we are excited to welcome educators and schools from new states, including Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia, while continuing to expand our presence in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Tennessee. Our reach is also extending beyond the United States as we once again welcome new teachers in Ghana.
This summer also brought several important developments designed to strengthen the e4usa experience. The entire e4usa curriculum is now available in the Hub, making it easier for educators to find and use the resources they need. This was a significant undertaking, and I want to extend a special thank-you to our Professional Learning Team for the tremendous care and effort that made it possible.
Meanwhile, our NSF-supported Credit and Placement Initiative is advancing quickly. This work will bring e4usa courses to participating college campuses and create direct pathways to college credit and placement for students who complete e4usa in high school. We are excited about the opportunities this initiative may open for students and about its potential to strengthen connections between secondary and postsecondary engineering education.
Our fall Prospectus will launch soon, offering another opportunity to introduce new schools and communities to e4usa. Please be on the lookout for more information, and consider sharing it with colleagues who may be interested in joining the e4usa community.
Our summer travels reflected this same spirit of outreach and connection. Through conferences and workshops in North Carolina, Toronto, and Washington, D.C., we had opportunities to share the e4usa approach, learn alongside colleagues, and engage new audiences in conversations about the future of engineering education.
We are also creating new ways to celebrate and connect our growing community. e4usa is now on Facebook and Instagram! We invite you to follow along, tag us, share photographs, and help us highlight the remarkable work taking place in your classrooms and school communities. Your stories make the impact of e4usa visible and allow educators and students across the network to learn from and celebrate one another. Your engagement will also make the pages fun!
As we begin this new academic year, I am filled with both gratitude and anticipation. I am grateful for the expertise, creativity, and care that each of you brings to this community. I am also excited about what lies ahead: new classrooms, new collaborations, new questions, new problems to solve, and new opportunities for students to discover the power of authentic engineering.
Thank you for your continued commitment to e4usa and to the young people we collectively serve. I look forward to all that we will learn, create, and accomplish together during the 2026–2027 academic year.
