Stacy Klein-Gardner
Dr. Klein-Gardner focuses on engineering education, particularly at the K-12 level. She is the founding Executive Director of Engineering for US All (e4usa), the non-profit company, and previously served as the co-PI and co-Director of the university-based NSF-funded Engineering for US All (e4usa) project. A member of the Vanderbilt University faculty since 1999 and as a former associate dean, Dr. Klein-Gardner currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering, where she also provides educational evaluation of the two-course sequence in the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering’s NIH-funded T32 Training Grant.
Over the years, her work has involved extensive research on professional development for engineering teachers at all levels of K-12. She served as the co-PI, Lead Engineer, and Director of Partnerships for Youth Engineering Solutions (YES)-Middle School and was on the Professional Development team at Engineering is Elementary (EiE). Dr. Klein-Gardner taught high school precalculus, AP Physics, and Biomedical Engineering-based physics for over 20 years, full- or part-time, and continues to enjoy that interaction by volunteering in a local e4usa class. She is very active in the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), having formerly served as chair of the ASEE P12 Commission and the Precollege (PCEE) division. She is a Fellow of ASEE and AIMBE.
At Duke University, Dr. Klein-Gardner is a founding member of the Women's Impact Network (WIN) and its Leadership Council, as well as a Chair Emerita of the Pratt School of Engineering’s Board of Visitors. She also serves as a member of the Drexel University School of Biomedical Engineering, Science & Health System’s Executive Advisory Council.
Dr. Klein-Gardner holds undergraduate degrees in biomedical and electrical engineering from Duke University, a master's degree in biomedical engineering from Drexel University, and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University.
