We’re thrilled to share that e4usa has been awarded a substantial grant of $500,000 from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) to continue advancing engineering education in Maryland! This funding is part of our second year of collaboration with MSDE and represents a significant boost for our efforts in the state.
Maryland is renowned for its highly skilled professional and technical workforce, yet there is a notable gap in the number of individuals entering the engineering field. According to recent data from the Maryland Department of Labor, the state is projected to see a 3.1% growth in architecture and engineering jobs, necessitating the addition of up to 50,000 professionals in the coming years. A key challenge remains the lack of awareness and understanding of engineering careers among students at the school level.
e4usa is proud to address this challenge head-on. With this new grant, we will expand our programs and deepen our impact across Maryland. Currently, we collaborate with 25 active teacher partners across 13 schools in the state and maintain strong connections with faculty at the University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and Towson University.
Our mission aligns closely with Pillar 3 of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, which aims to ensure that all students meet the College and Career Readiness (CCR) standard by the end of their 10th grade year. This pillar emphasizes preparing students for success in college and high-demand careers, and developing pathways that align with industry needs. e4usa is committed to being a key player in how the state achieves these goals, by enhancing engineering education and creating pathways that support students in reaching their full potential.
