As we continue our Friends & Family Campaign — Deep Roots. Growing Strong., we’re taking a moment to recognize two educators whose commitment to e4usa reflects the very heart of our mission: Kevin Martz and Christine Zito.
Both Kevin and Christine have been part of e4usa for six years, helping to shape the program’s growth, guiding new teachers, and inspiring students to see themselves as future engineers.
Kevin Martz began his e4usa journey as a high school teacher at Richard Montgomery High School in Maryland, where he taught both e4usa+Making and e4usa+Programming. Today, he continues to advance engineering education as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland and Towson University, bringing the e4usa experience to the university level.
Reflecting on his experience, Kevin shared:
“I have felt connected to e4usa since the first round of summer training that I was a part of (in the very strange summer of 2020). This group has meant a great deal to me and I can see first hand how it continues to benefit students, both at the K–12 level and now at the university level. I want to continue to help other teachers be a part of this great program and that is why I have chosen to contribute to the Friends and Family Campaign.”
Christine Zito, who teaches the Legacy course at the Miller School of Albemarle, has also been with e4usa for six years. In addition to teaching, she serves as a coach and fellow for new e4usa educators. She has facilitated professional development sessions for incoming teachers, helping them feel confident and supported as they integrate engineering into their classrooms.
Christine shared:
“As an e4usa teacher and coach, I have seen the impact our curriculum has had on my students and many new e4usa teachers that I have been able to work with. My students are now able to develop solutions to engineering problems and eloquently communicate their process in writing, both skills that will support them in college and beyond. Supporting e4usa will allow more teachers to experience the professional development training that in turn supports their students in developing strong engineering professional skills.”
Teachers like Kevin and Christine are the branches of the e4usa tree — extending our impact to more students, guiding new educators, and demonstrating what it means to make engineering truly for everyone.
This campaign celebrates them — and all teachers who make e4usa’s mission possible. Your support helps us train and mentor new teachers, expand to new schools, and equip classrooms with the resources they need to thrive.
