From Sidewalk Cracks to Systems Thinking: How e4usa Project Led to Real-World Impact

At Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Prince George’s County, an e4usa project that began with fixing a cracked sidewalk grew into something much bigger. Guided by teacher Dave Eisenberg, students reframed the problem, explored drainage and erosion, and partnered with local organizations. Their work connected them to the Schmidt Outdoor Education Center and the Anacostia Watershed Society, ultimately leading to the installation of a new outdoor classroom on campus. What started as a simple fix became a lesson in systems thinking, persistence, and community impact—showcasing how e4usa empowers students to solve real problems and leave lasting legacies.
